The Royal Heart of the Old Town

Our exploration of Gdańsk begins in the beating heart of the city, where history embraces you with every step. Here, on Długi Targ – the Long Market – stands the imposing Neptune Fountain. Neptune himself watches over the crowd, his trident raised, while dolphins writhe at his feet and water splashes around. It is a powerful symbol of the city's connection to the sea.

Directly next to the fountain, the Main Town Hall of Gdańsk towers, with its ornate spire and golden hands gleaming in the sunlight. Inside is the Museum of Gdańsk, where centuries intersect in stone and glass. The Long Market itself shines like a candy box full of colors and facades. Blue-green ornaments dance across the roofs, and each house seems to have its own character, a silent witness to the grandeur of the Hanseatic League.

At the end of the Long Market stands the Green Gate, an impressive entrance to the city. With its four wide passages and views of the water, it marks the transition to the river. Look closely at the sculpted masks above the arches; they seem to secretly spy on you as you enter the riverside city.

Between Heaven and Earth: Religion and Romance

From the lively Long Market, we delve into the more serene and romantic side of Gdańsk. The Mariacka Gate forms a poetic entrance to one of the city's most beautiful streets. Under the stone arches, you feel how time gently flows here, and the adventure begins between cobblestones and legends.

This gate leads us to St. Mary's Church, a place of overwhelming silence. As soon as you step inside, you feel the peace like a soft blanket. Look up at the vaulted ceiling, dotted with hundreds of stars, as if the night sky stretches above you. Here, you touch eternity for a moment.

Another striking entrance to the old town is the Golden Gate. Under its arches, the sound of a bell echoes, carried by the wind, while golden details glitter in the sunlight. It marks the beginning of the old town with a solemn sound.

Not far from there, we find the Bread Bridge, also known as the 'Bridge of Love'. This bridge is adorned with hundreds of locks, each with a story of love and hope. You hear their gentle jingle as the wind taps them together, a symbol of promises locked here forever.

Hidden Treasures and New Perspectives

Gdańsk also offers surprising treasures and modern vistas. A visit to the Amber Museum is a journey millions of years back in time. The museum gleams with golden-yellow stones full of trapped insects and ancient secrets. Some pieces are so clear you can almost touch time, a fascinating glimpse into the region's natural history.

For those who enjoy a playful interlude, there's the DeJa Vu Museum, a world where nothing is as it seems. Mirrors bend space and floors ripple beneath your feet, making you part of the enigma.

As evening falls, Gdańsk's neon sign sparkles like a modern gateway to the city. The red 'A' especially stands out and immediately catches the eye, a radiant symbol of vibrant city life.

End your day with a ride on AmberSky, a giant wheel of steel and light that rotates above the water. In the dark, the cabins light up like stars on the horizon. From above, you see the city from a whole new perspective, with breathtaking views that showcase the beauty of Gdańsk in all its glory.
